Haku's life has been pretty strange. Not so much ups and downs as a hell of a lot of downs and a couple ups. He lived happily with a suburban family in Maine for the first 8 years of his life, living the happy, easy life of a suburban child. Then his father murdered his mother and tried to kill him. The strangest part of that is that when the police came, the father was already dead, shot in the heart with what appeared to be his own hunting rifle. Nobody realized that Haku was the one who did it. He himself isn't even sure if he did it. Life became a blur after that. There was much business and fuss surrounding the legal aspects of the case, but it didn't matter to him, since he had fled his home as soon as he realized what he had done. The boy wandered wintry New England for days, clinging to life but avoiding human contact. He had all but given up when he collapsed in the snow on an overpass.

Then something miraculous happened. Someone, some mysterious man, came up to him and picked him up. The man kept talking to him, to make sure he was still conscious, and carried him all the way across town to the hospital. He stayed there, checking on Haku periodically, and payed for his expenses. Then left. Haku never found out who the man was, but vowed to somehow find him.

Nowadays Haku works at Konoha Mart. The friendly 19-year-old couldn't be happier to be there, since school was agony, and living with a foster family doubly so. School was a problem for strange reasons, not because of bad grades or conflict with authorities, but because since at the age of 12 Haku completely devoted himself to the cause of dressing in clothing designated for females. His long, straight, black hair and large, beautiful eyes compounded this. So bullying was a given. Haku tried not to fight back, being very much a pacifist, but he would fight back if the bullies got physical. So he was more than happy to graduate from his school. He moved out from his home as soon as he could afford it, raising money through a self-started acupuncture business. But the acupuncture market was unstable, so Haku decided to take a job at Konoha Mart instead. The coldness of the seafood warmed his heart, and the counter at the back of the store afforded great views of hot coworkers... especially him. That guy. In his late 20s, with spiky black hair, gray-tan skin, and a gravelly voice. Zabuza. Haku adores the man. Everything about him, despite the fact that he is somewhat of a jerk, attracts Haku.

If Haku ever appears away from his post, it's one of two things: he's in the Pet Supplies aisle, getting food for his pet rabbit, or he's semi-stalking Zabuza. Either way, just leave him be. It's how he gets pleasure out of this job.
